Traffic stop leads to arrest of Muhlenberg County man for possession for meth

NEWS RELEASE

Greenville, KY (Muhlenberg County) – On December 30, 2015, Trooper Robert Austin initiated a traffic stop for a speeding violation, on Highland Drive, in the city limits of Greenville. After making contact with the operator, Donald W Joines JR, Trooper Austin suspected he was impaired. A series of field sobriety tests resulted in Trooper Austin placing Mr. Joines under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

During the investigation, Trooper Austin found Mr. Joines to be in possession of multiple bags of methamphetamine, marijuana, and items used to ingest controlled substances. Troopers Jacob Fortney and Jon McGehee assisted on the scene.

Mr. Joines was lodged at the Muhlenberg County Detention Center on the following charges:
1) Speeding
2) Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense
3) Possession of Marijuana
4) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
5) Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense Greater Than Two Grams of Methamphetamine.
