Overnight shooting injures juvenile

Evansville Police are investigating a shooting that injured a juvenile.

According to police, officers responded to the area of Lincoln and Bedford around 10:10 p.m. Wednesday a report of shots fired. When they arrived they reportedly found a 16 year old male who had been shot in the shoulder. Authorities say the victim told officers he did not know who shot him.

The juvenile was taken to a local hospital for treatment where police say he is expected to recover.

Authorities indicate the Wednesday night shooting is in the same area where four people were injured by gunfire on Monday night. They believe that shooting was gang related. Police say Jarnell Carter had been charged with four counts of attempted murder in that case and has been waived to adult court. At this time, they say it is unclear at this time if the two incidents are connected.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call EPD at 812-436-7979 or WeTip at 1-800-CRIME.
