Missouri Woman Charged with Fleeing and Evading and DUI

Dawson Springs, KY (Hopkins County)The Kentucky State Police has charged a Missouri woman with Fleeing and evading 1st degree (motor vehicle) and DUI.

On Sunday, August 14th, 2016 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Trooper Cody Kromer observed Deborah Berardi, 55, of Columbia, Missouri, operating a red Toyota Corolla at a speed of 90 MPH in a 70 MPH zone on Interstate 69 in Dawson Springs, Ky. After Trooper Kromer initiated his emergency equipment to signal for a traffic stop, Berardi sped up to speeds of 125 MPH with Trooper Kromer in pursuit of her vehicle. The pursuit entered into Caldwell County and finally came to a stop in Trigg County as the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department was able to stop the vehicle by use of a tire deflation device.

Berardi was taken into custody without incident and was charged with the following offenses:

1)    Speeding 26 MPH or more over the limit

2)    Fleeing or evading police, 1st degree (motor vehicle)

3)    DUI, 1st offense

4)    Reckless Driving

5)    Failure to or improper signal

6)    Failure to produce insurance card

7)    Resisting arrest
