UPDATE: Kentucky State Police said William Arant, 18, of Island, was captured Tuesday night in Owensboro. He was taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.
Many law enforcement agencies assisted in the search including Kentucky State Police, Owensboro Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and McLean County Sheriff’s Department.
Kentucky State Police are actively looking for an Island man in connection to the death of Steven G. Powell, 20, of Calhoun.
Police initially responded early Thursday morning to reports of a man shot at a residence at 375 West Second Street in Calhoun. Troopers responded to a residence and discovered Calhoun with an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health, where he later died.
Troopers are searching for William C. Arant, 18, of Island. A warrant has been issued with charges of murder and first-degree burglary. He is also known as Conor or Willie.
Arant is considered armed and dangerous. He was last believed to be in the Owensboro area.
