Police say an intoxicated 29 year old woman was arrested Wednesday night at a home in Henderson and charged with assaulting police, wanton endangerment and other offenses.

Henderson Police report an officer responded to 513 9th Street regarding 29 year old Ericka Powell who was intoxicated and refused to leave her mother’s home. Police say Powell had drunk a pint of Vodka and was heavily intoxicated. She was reportedly arrested for a Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear and began to fight with officers. During the altercation, authorities say Powell grabbed her young daughter around the throat with her arm to avoid being taken into custody. According to police, an officer was able to free the child from her mother, but Powell continued to fight with another officer. They say she broke out a glass storm door, hit, and kicked officers causing injuries.

Powell was arrested and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center for A.I., Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and an unrelated Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear.’
