The Union County Grand Jury indicted four individuals, including a man involved with local authorities in a high speed chase after an alleged bank robbery in Shawneetown.
During the August 2016 session, the grand jury indicted 32 year old Marcus Householder of Reed for Fleeing or Evading Police, First Degree (Motor Vehicle), and nine counts of Wanton Endangerment.
Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Thomas reported to WMSK News on June 14, 2016 that Householder allegedly robbed a bank in Shawneetown, IL and then fled into Union County where he and Sheriff Mickey Arnold, along with local police officers chased him when Householder sped through Morganfield in excess of 70 mph. Deputy Jason Thomas said Householder then fled onto HWY 56 East into Webster County and turned onto US-41-A where he reached speeds in excess of 120 mph until he crashed into a gasoline tanker in the Country Mark lot near Poole. Householder was airlifted from the scene to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of injuries.
The grand jury also indicted the following individuals:
29 year old Billy C. Brooks of Sturgis for Improper Start from Parked Position, No Operators/Moped License, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Fourth Offense Within a Ten Year Period, Driving on DUI Suspended License, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia;
30 year old Alex Holt of Morganfield for Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun;
And, 32 year old Joseph Anthony Wagner of Sturgis for Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) First Degree, First Offense.
