Man injured in semi wreck in Hopkins County

A Texas man was injured in a semi wreck Monday on in Hopkins County.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office tells WMSK News deputies responded to the wreck in the 12-hundred block of National Mine Road around 1:05 p.m. Monday where the driver of the semi, 50 year old James R. Reed, of Moody, Texas, stated he was traveling south on I-69 around the 117 mile marker when for an unknown reason he went off the right side of the road. His semi then went down an embankment and collided with trees and a power pole before coming to rest on Old National Mine Road. Reed reportedly told deputies it had started to rain and he may have hydroplaned.

Reed was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Baptist Hospital in Madisonville for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Med Center Ambulance, Madisonville Police Department, Madisonville Fire Department, EMA, and KU.
