A 4 year old boy is listed in good condition after he was hit by a truck Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department reported to WMSK News late Saturday that the accident occurred around 2:00 Friday afternoon at a residence in the 1900 block of Niles Road in Dawson Springs.

According to the report, Travis Welch had unloaded trash from a vehicle behind his residence and believed both of his children had left the area. Authorities say Welch asked his fiancée, Misty Fain, to move the vehicle and when doing so she heard something hit the truck. She reportedly exited the vehicle and realized that Welch’s 4 year old son had been struck by the truck.

The 4 year old boy was transported to Baptist Health where he is listed in good condition, according to the Sheriff’s office.
