WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued a stay of the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan:
“This decision reaffirms my long-held belief that President Obama is using his Environmental Protection Agency to regulate outside the limits set forth by Congress. I am pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision to halt the EPA’s attack on the coal industry. As Chairman of the Energy and Power Subcommittee, we have worked extensively on oversight and passed legislation to help protect ratepayers everywhere from this administration’s unprecedented regulatory attack on affordable and reliable electricity. The Supreme Court has sent a signal that they also recognize the serious legal questions that surround the Clean Power Plan and the great harm it could cause.”
