WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) released the following statement in response to damage caused by severe weather that spawned a tornado across several counties in the First District yesterday afternoon and evening:
“My thoughts and prayers remain with all of those affected by yesterday’s devastating weather. While I am saddened that several families and businesses suffered considerable loss of property and possessions, I am also relieved there was no loss of life reported.
“I have been in communications with my staff in Kentucky who have spoken to local officials and offered my services in the recovery process. These communities are resilient, just as are all the people of Kentucky, and I know they are already hard at work helping their neighbors recover from this destruction. ”
