DIXON, Ky. — Students in Webster County will head back to the classroom Wednesday, August 12, as Webster County Schools begins the 2026-2027 school year with new start and dismissal times.
The district is reminding families that the school day will now begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m. The new schedule was approved by the Webster County Board of Education on November 24, 2025, and has also been included on district calendars and school magnets distributed to families.
The first day for students comes after several back-to-school events across the district. Staff returned for opening day August 4, elementary schools held open houses August 6, and Webster County Middle School, Webster County High School and the Area Technology Center welcomed families for open houses Monday.
Webster County Schools is also asking parents, students and motorists to allow some extra time during the first few days as everyone adjusts to new routines.
The district says families may notice longer morning commutes, bus routes taking additional time and different traffic patterns around schools. Bus drivers, student drivers, parents and school staff will all be adjusting to the beginning-of-year schedule.
School officials are encouraging the community to be patient around buses and school traffic as routes and arrival times settle into their normal patterns.
The district summed up its message to families ahead of Wednesday’s return by reminding everyone that “we’re all learning the route.”
