Two Men in Stable Condition After Boating Collision on Lake Malone

MUHLENBERG CO. KY ( WMSK) – Two men are in serious condition after their boats collided on Lake Malone around 7:15 p.m Friday. injured Friday when two boats collided on Lake Malone.

Kentucky State Police say the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife’s preliminary investigation revealed that 48 year old Gregory Brumfield, of Russellville, was operating a 1993 Stratos Bass Boat southbound on Lake Malone in the main channel. Police indicate 25 year old Zach Appling (KSP correction of last name they originally reported as Watkins), of Russellville, was operating a 2002 Bass Tracker southbound in the main channel when Brumfield’s boat struck Watkins’ boat from behind. Both boats reportedly stopped in the middle of the lake and had to be towed back to the dock.

According to the release, Brumfield and Watkins were transported by ambulance to Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville. Both subjects were then transferred to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN where they are both currently listed in serious, but stable condition.

The Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife is investigating the collision. Muhlenberg County EMS, Muhlenberg County Sheriff Office, and Logan County EMS assisted at the scene.
