An Owensboro teen police said was a person of interest in connection to a robbery has been arrested.

Owensboro Police say 18 year old William Merriweather was located and arrested Thursday. He was wanted in connection to a burglary that occurred Wednesday around 3:15 a.m. in the 700 block of Sycamore Street.

According to police, it was reported that a male subject had forced his way into the apartment and brandished a handgun. The subject then reportedly demanded money from the residence, but left the scene after a brief physical altercation.

Police said Merriweather was a person of interest in this case.

They reported the 18 year old had four separate active outstanding warrants for his arrest unrelated to this crime. They included charges of second degree burglary and first degree robbery.

Following Merriweather’s arrest, he was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with first degree robbery, possession of marijuana, and receiving stolen property (firearm). Police say the active warrants were also served.
