Multiple arrests made in connection with Evansville shooting

Multiple arrests have been made in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday night in Evansville.

Authorities were dispatched to the 700 block of North Garvin Street in Evansville just after 10:30 p.m. Monday after receiving multiple 911 calls saying more than 10 shots were heard in the area.

Officers determined that two men had received non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, one to the hip area and the other to the chest.  Neither man knew who shot them.

Officers and detectives from the Street Crimes Unit, Adult Investigation Unit and Joint Task Force, with assistance from EPD SWAT, served search warrants in the 300 and 600 blocks of Sweetser Avenue in reference to Monday night’s shooting investigation.

Detectives established potential suspects in the shooting and began surveillance at multiple locations.

One suspect, Jermontae L. Boyd, 23, was seen exiting a residence and leaving in a vehicle. Boyd was taken into custody during a traffic stop.

Officers and detectives then served search warrants at the two addresses. Through the search, three handguns, one Draco style AK pistol, one shotgun, cocaine, synthetic cannabinoids, MDMA and marijuana  were seized.

The following people were charged through this investigation were:

  • Jermontae Boyd, 23, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon
  • John E. Boyd, 35, was charged with resisting law enforcement.
  • Jasper M. Eason, 27, was charged with visiting a common nuisance, possession of
  • marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of schedule narcotics.
  • Kiyeal E. McBaine, 24, was charged with visiting a common nuisance.
  • Antonio D. Jones, 24,  was charged with visiting a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.
  • Darion L. Hardin, 20 , was charged with visiting a common nuisance.
  • Tashyra G. Johnson, 29, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, dealing schedule narcotics, possession of schedule narcotics and possession of marijuana
  • Tabarrie A. Pope, 24, was charged with disorderly conduct.
