Multi-vehicle Crash Leaves One Union County Man Dead and Another Injured

A multiple-vehicle crash that closed US 60 West during the morning commute has claimed the life of a Union County Man.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department says the crash at the Henderson/Union County line was reported in at 7:30 this morning.

Authorities say it appears an eastbound Ford F-150 driven by 57-year old Randy Hobgood of Morganfield traveled into the path of a Jeep

Wrangler driven by 50-year old Billy Halpin also of Morganfield. A third vehicle driven by 37-year old James Brashear of Morganfield was unable to avoid

colliding with the jeep due to slick road conditions.

Hobgood was transported to Deaconess Henderson Hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. Halpin was taken to Evansville Deaconess for treatment. His condition is not known. Brashear did not report any injuries.

Kentucky State Police and the Union County Sheriff’s Department along with other first responders assisted the Sheriff’s office at the scene.

The investigation continues.

US Highway 60 West reopened to through traffic shortly after 10 this morning.
