MPD: Madisonville man charged with DUI after wreck left Providence woman injured

A Webster County woman was injured in a two-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon when police say her vehicle was hit by a man who had been drinking alcohol.

Madisonville Police report the wreck occurred around Noon Monday when 44 year old Chad Locke of Madisonville was driving south on Bean Cemetery Road when he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Rose Creek Road and proceeded through the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of a vehicle driven by 22 year old Hillary Bumpus of Providence who was traveling east on Rose Creek Road and was unable to stop in time to avoid the wreck. Police say the impact caused Bumpus’ vehicle to spin out and hit a utility pole.

According to authorities, Locke was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Bumpus was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Baptist Health in Madisonville for treatment of injuries.
