Morganfield Police Department reminds residents to lock vehicles

The Morganfield Police Department wants to remind everyone of the importance of locking your vehicles.

Sergeant Geoffrey Deibler says it seems a rash of vehicle break-ins pops up in the City of Morganfield from time to time, and this is one of those times. He says the usual pattern of these thieves is to enter unlocked motor vehicles in order to take items that are easily accessible such as: GPS units, portable DVD players, CD collections, and loose change.

Sgt. Deibler states the most alarming trend is stolen firearms from unlocked motor vehicles. He strongly encourages everyone to not leave firearms in a vehicle unattended, and especially if the vehicle is going to be left unlocked.

If anyone has any information on any of the recent thefts, he says please do not hesitate to call the Morganfield Police Department at (270) 389-4357.
