Hopkins County man killed when he falls out of Jeep

A Hopkins County man was killed when authorities say he fell out of a Jeep and was run over.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Island Ford and Iglehart Road in Hanson around 8:20 p.m. Sunday where William Bean told authorities he was driving northbound on Island Ford Road when for an unknown reason 22 year old John Hayden, of  Earlington, who was sitting in the back seat of the open top Jeep, decided to climb out of the vehicle while it was still moving. Bean stated he and the other passengers tried to get Hayden back inside the moving Jeep, but instead the 22 year old man tried to maneuver down the side of the Jeep when he slipped and fell off the Jeep as it was slowing down, causing Hayden to fall under the vehicle where he was run over by the Jeep.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police, Med Center Ambulance, Hanson Fire Department and Hopkins County Coroner’s Office.
