Madisonville man charged with murder in connection with baby’s death

A Madisonville man has been charged with murder in connection with a baby’s death.

Madisonville Police Department said that emergency services responded at 9:43 a.m. Oct. 2 to a residence on Couch Street in Madisonville for a report of a two-month-old that was not breathing. The child lived with his mother, aunt, two other children, and the mother’s boyfriend.

The mother’s boyfriend was identified as Anthony Paige, 22, of Madisonville. Paige and the aunt were the only adults at the residence since the infant’s mother was at work, according to police.

The child was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was declared dead on Oct. 5.

An autopsy was performed, and the Medical Examiner ruled the death as a homicide. According to the Medical Examiner, the cause of death was blunt force trauma. The Medical Examiner’s report noted brain and optic nerve hemorrhages, blood in the ear, and bruising on the back of the baby’s head.

After interviews were conducted, an arrest warrant was granted for Paige for murder (domestic violence). Paige was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Oct. 7 and charged with murder (domestic violence).

Paige was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a $1,000,000 cash bond.
