Madisonville man charged with burglary

A Madisonville man has been charged in connection to a residential burglary.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to a complaint around 3:40 a.m. Monday of a subject trying to break into a residence on Columbia School House Road in Manitou.

Upon arrival, authorities reportedly found 19 year old Nathan Gillispe, of Madisonville, straddling the driver’s side door of a vehicle in the driveway with one leg inside the vehicle. They say he smelled of alcohol and the window on the vehicle had been busted out with damage to the door.

According to deputies, the victims stated Gillispie was beating on the front door of the home for them to let him in and got frustrated when they wouldn’t let him in. They say he then went and entered a building behind the residence and started throwing objects outside and then picked up a brick and smashed the driver side window of the victim’s car.

Gillispie was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center for third degree burglary, first degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication.
