HENDERSON, KY, October 20, 2023– Local agencies and nonprofits are coming together to host “Horses for Heroes” on Saturday, November 11th at Rolling Hills Equestrian Center. The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This inaugural celebration seeks to show appreciation and support for those who serve our community. The free event is open to all emergency services team members and their families. “Horses for Heroes” will provide support through a fun, stress-free event that will offer resources, food, horses, and children’s activities. Attendees and their families will have the chance to learn more about how equine and human interactions can help promote emotional and healing support. They’ll have the opportunity to take a tour of the Rolling Hills facilities, hayrides, Mission BBQ , horse grooming, children’s activities and so much more.
River Valley Behavioral Health, Stephen Boyens Farm Bureau and the Raymond B. Preston Family Foundation are sponsoring the Horses for Heroes event in collaboration with the following local organizations: Rolling Hills Equestrian Center, Healing Reins of Kentucky, Henderson County Public Library, Infinite Hope, KY Department of Veterans Affairs, Evansville Vet Center, Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department, the City of Henderson, and Defending Heroes Project.
Special guest speakers will include Mayor Brad Staton, Commissioner Austin Vowels, Henderson County Judge Executive Brad Schneider and more.
If the public would like to show their support, the group is accepting donations of gift cards, monetary donations, and letters of appreciation for those community servants in attendance. If individuals, local schools or clubs would like to send letters, please address them to P.O. Box 2027 Henderson, KY 42419. Cards will be accepted up until Thursday, November 2nd.
