Princeton, Ky. (12/05/2023) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Princeton on Monday afternoon.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department requested KSP Post 2 to investigate a fatal collision on Kentucky 672 in Princeton at approximately 5:40 p.m. Monday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Jose R. Palacios, 54, of Hopkinsville, was operating a 2022 International truck southbound on Kentucky 672. For unknown reasons, the International truck dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway, and overcorrected across both lanes of travel, causing the truck to overturn down a steep embankment on the north side of the roadway.
The Caldwell County Coroner pronounced Palacios dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. A passenger in his vehicle, Jason A. Chyle 41, of Cadiz, was transported from the scene by air ambulance.
The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Patrick Penrod. He was assisted on scene by additional Post 2 personnel, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department, Caldwell County EMS, PHI Air Ambulance, Jones Bros wrecker service, and the Princeton Fire Department.
