KSP Detectives Make Second Arrest in Oak Grove Murder Investigation

NEWS RELEASE

Kentucky State Police detectives have made a second arrest in connection to the murder investigation in Oak Grove, KY.

On August 2, 2016, KSP Detectives from Post 2, served an arrest warrant on Leonardo D. Miller, 19, Oak Grove, KY.  Miller was already incarcerated at the Christian County Jail on other charges not related to the murder investigation. Leonardo D. Miller was charged with the following:

  • Murder
  • Robbery 1st Degree
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.

 PREVIOUS UPDATE:

Madisonville, KY. (July 27, 2016). The victim has been positively identified as De’Andre Marquis Palmer, 19, Clarksville, TN. Palmer was reported missing on July 17, 2016, to the Clarksville Police Department.

An arrest warrant has been issued on Deqavion M. James, 18, Oak Grove, KY for the following charges:

  1. Murder
  2. Robbery 1st Degree
  3. Tampering with Physical Evidence

James is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.  Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Deqavion James, is encouraged to call the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555. Callers may remain anonymous.

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

Madisonville, Ky. (July 21, 2016) An autopsy was performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville, KY. The results showed that the subject is a black male, but no further identification was able to be obtained. Positive identification is now pending on examination of DNA or dental records.

KSP Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide. Further details pertaining to the cause of death cannot be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE:

Oak Grove, Ky. (July 20, 2016) Kentucky State Police are investigating an unidentified body that has been located on Carter Road on July 20, 2016 at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an Oak Grove Police Officer located the deceased body of an unknown subject in a wooded area of Carter Road close to Ghost Bridge. The body was found several feet from the roadway after the officer was investigating a strong odor that he noticed while on patrol.

At present time, the cause of death is unknown. An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. KSP Detectives are currently on scene and more information will be released as it becomes available.

KSP was assisted on scene by the Oak Grove Police Department, Christian County Sheriff Department, Clarksville Police Department and the Christian County Rescue Squad.
