KSP Charges Fayette Co. Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

NEWS RELEASE

LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 13, 2016) — On October 12, 2016, at approximately 6:29 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by the Lexington Police Department, arrested Christopher L. Irvin, 41, on charges related to possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

Irvin was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect actively seeking images/videos of child sexual exploitation.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Irvin’s residence in Lexington on October 12, 2016. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Irvin is currently charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.

Irvin was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center. Additional charges are expected
