KMA District 14 Makes Donation to Union Co. Happy Packs

Union County Happy Packs received a large donation from funds raised during the 4th Annual Pre-Corn Festival Poker Run & Charity Auction, sponsored by the Kentucky Motorcycle Association, District 14.

According to Treasurer David Holt, KMA District 14 presented a 35-hundred dollar check to members of the Union County Happy Pack, Inc. Over the past four years, he indicates the KMA has raised over 88-hundred dollars doing these fund raisers for Union County Happy Packs in addition to raising money for the Happy Feet program in the counties of Union, Webster and Crittenden by collecting cell phones to buy calling cards for deployed soldiers through the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, and the Adopt-A-Veteran’s Angel Tree program.

Union County Happy Pack is a weekly, take-home food program for children in need of food when school meals are not available. Nonperishable foods are sent home in backpacks with children who have little or no food on the weekends. Local officials say Union County Happy Packs is currently feeding 260 children each week in the county.

In a release, the Kentucky Motorcycle Association also thanked area businesses for their donations during their annual Poker Run & Charity Auction in order to help them make this 35-hundred dollar donation possible.
