LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky’s U.S. Senate candidates will meet on statewide television for the only debate of the 2016 campaign.

Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul and Democrat Lexington Mayor Jim Gray are scheduled to debate on KET’s “Kentucky Tonight” program on Monday. The hour-long debate begins at 8 p.m. EDT.

Paul is finishing up his first term in office. He ran for president in 2015 and the first part of this year, but ended his campaign after the Iowa caucuses. Gray is the two-term mayor of Lexington, Kentucky’s second-largest city.

This is the only time the two candidates will debate in person, and only the third time the candidates have appeared together. Both spoke at the Fancy Farm picnic in August and again last week at the Red White and Blue forum in Owensboro.
