Henderson Community College Adopts New Mission Statement

Henderson, KY – Every three years, HCC has the opportunity to reflect on the Mission of HCC, an exercise that we deem important to our growth – one that describes the purpose of our institution over the next few years. On Friday, December 7th, Henderson Community College (HCC) proposed this new Mission Statement to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents. The new statement was approved upon presentation.
The review of the college’s mission received input from students, the community, and employees of the college. Each conversation provided valuable input on the revised statement. For example, the student forum recognized that HCC does its best work through imparting soft skills (critical thinking, preparation for the workforce, proactivity). This idea found its way into the mission statement through the phrase “College and Workplace Readiness.”
The College Assessment and Accreditation Team synthesized the input of all constituencies and made recommendation to the Leadership Team. Both the Leadership Team and President’s Cabinet voted to pass the proposed statement to the Board, which approved it on October 26th.
The new mission statement is as follows:
The mission of Henderson Community College is:
To enhance the quality of life and employability of our community by serving as the leading provider of
• College and Workplace Readiness
• Transfer Education
• Technical Education and Workforce Training
• Lifelong Learning and Cultural Enrichment
We appreciate all who participated in making this new Mission of HCC one that the college believes represents our community so well. Henderson Community College is located at 2660 S. Green St. in Henderson, KY and can be found online at www.henderson.kctcs.edu.
