Coal Miner Appreciation and Senior Athletes Recognition Night at UCHS on Friday

A special tribute to local coal miners and retired coal miners will be held Friday night during the Union County Braves football game.

Union County High School Athletic Director Jeremy Tackett tells WMSK News the UCHS Band of Braves performed their routine “Mining Within” earlier this week, and it was such a special performance and tribute to coal miners, the band was asked to perform it again Friday night during the football game.

In addition, he says the school district wants to recognize all the current and former coal miners of Union County.

Prior to the football game, several UCHS Seniors will be recognized.

So don’t miss out on a big night tomorrow night as the football team wraps up their home portion of the football season, the Band of Braves perform a tribute to Union County coal miner’s and the opportunity to watch the UCHS senior athletes be recognized.

And don’t forget if you are a current or retired coal miner, if you wear your hard hat to the game you will be admitted free of charge and recognized during halftime.
