4 Saline Co, Ill residents have been charged in connection to weekend burglary at gun shop

Four Saline County, Illinois residents have been charged in connection to a burglary over the weekend.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office reported today that the burglary occurred Sunday at the Gunslingers Gun Shop on Karel Park Road outside of Eldorado.

An investigation by the sheriff’s department, along with the Eldoradio Police Department and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms led to the arrests Tuesday evening as well as the recovery of 29 handguns, 1 assault style rifle, numerous ammo magazines, ammunition and gun cases.

Authorities say 18 year old William Jayden Emmons, 54 year old Charles Edward Payne, 27 year old Nathan Behrens, and a juvenile, all of Eldorado were taken into custody.

Emmons and the juvenile were charged with burglary, aggravated possession of stolen firearms and possession of a stolen/converted vehicle. Payne and Behrens were charged with aggravated possession of stolen firearms.

The sheriff’s office says the burglary is still under investigation and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted with the investigation.
