3 Uniontown residents injured in wreck near Smith Mills

Three Uniontown residents were injured when a vehicle overturned Wednesday near Smith Mills.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, 24 year old Melanee Ashby of Uniontown was driving toward Smith Mills on Highway 359 around 12:35 p.m. Wednesday when she stated she reached for a cup dropped by her toddler. She told deputies that when she looked back up the vehicle was going onto the shoulder of the road. The report says Ashby then overcorrected, exited the roadway and hit a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn two times and come to rest in a cornfield on the driver’s side. While overturning, authorities say the front seat passenger 24 year old Alexis Bolds of Uniontown was ejected from the vehicle. Police say She was airlifted from the scene to a hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.

Authorities indicate Ashby and another passenger in the vehicle, 20 year old Dalton Floyd of Uniontown, were transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital for treatment.  The sheriff’s office says Ashby’s two juvenile children were uninjured in the accident and released to family members.
