16 year old Sebree girl killed in Union Co. wreck will be laid to rest Wednesday

A 16 year old Webster County girl killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Union County early Sunday morning will be laid to rest Wednesday.

Funeral services for Kaci Wood will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with burial to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 until 8:00 and after 9:00 Wednesday morning at the funeral home.

Wood was tragically killed around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning on Kentucky 492 outside of Morganfield. Kentucky State Police say the driver of the vehicle, 19 year old Maxwell McMain of Morganfield, for some unknown reason lost control of the car causing it to overturn multiple times. Authorities say Wood and McMain were not wearing their seatbelts and were both ejected from the vehicle. Another passenger in the car, 20 year old Jacob Hood, who police say was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash.

KSP is continuing to investigate the wreck. At this time, they say investigators have not ruled out the possibility that speed and/or alcohol may have contributed to the fatal crash.

Wood was a junior at Webster County High School where she was a member of Future Farmers of America and she played for the Webster County Lady Trojans softball team.

She is survived by her parents, David and Shanna (Hazelwood) Wood; two sisters, Kaleigh Wood of Sebree, and Kaci’s twin sister, Kari Wood of Sebree; her grandparents and several other relatives.
