DCSO: Owensboro man killed in motorcycle vs bucket truck crash

A 27 year old man was killed this morning when authorities say his motorcycle hit a bucket truck.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies and emergency personnel responded to the 1800 block of Reid Road around 7:30 this morning where a motorcycle was traveling southbound and crashed into a bucket truck when it made a left-hand turn and pulled into the path of the rider. Authorities say the 27 year old male rider from Owensboro was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the passenger side of the bucket truck. CPR was reportedly performed at the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

According to the report, the 38 year old bucket truck driver, who was not injured, was cited at the scene for operating a Commercial Vehicle without a CDL and not having a medical certificate in his possession.

The sheriff’s office says toxicology tests are pending on both drivers.

As of news time, authorities had not released the names of the motorcycle rider or the bucket truck driver.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
