Union County KYASAP Awarded Heroin/Opiate Grant

A local organization has received a grant that will be used to educate and equip Union County with Heroin and Opiate Prevention.

Union County KYASAP Board Chairman Jerry Baird tells WMSK News they applied for the grant through the Office of Drug Control Policy in Frankfort.

As part of this grant, he says they had to submit a timeline of how and when they would use these funds.

He explains the main goal of this grant is herion and opiate prevention.

According to Beth Thomas, Family Resource Coordinator of Uniontown and Sturgis Elementary Schools, they will be attending training on October 23rd in Owensboro that addresses Kentucky adolescent substance abuse. She also says they are very excited about Union County receiving the $20,000 grant.
