Work to Ramp UP on KY 144 Reconstruction in eastern DAVIESS County THIS WEEK

NEWS RELEASE

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is expected to start work along a section of KY 144 in eastern DAVIESS County THIS WEEK.

The project includes reconstruction of a section of KY 144 between mile point 6.3 and mile point 7.3 west of the Knottsville community near the intersection with Pleasant Valley Road.  This is along KY 144 between KY 142 and KY 1831/Knottsville-Mt. Zion Road in Daviess County.

The contractor will initially be doing some utility and prep work along the right of way as weather allows.  As this work ramps up there will eventually be some impact on passing traffic in the work zone.

Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.  As the project progresses there may be one lane traffic at more than one location along this work zone to facilitate required work.

Additional traffic advisories will be forthcoming as construction activity ramps up.  Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Phillips Brothers Construction is the prime contractor on this $1,834,807 highway improvement project.  The target completion date is July 1, 2017.

About 2,400 vehicles travel this section of KY 144 in an average day.
