…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON CST
SUNDAY…
The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to noon CST
Sunday. The Wind Advisory covers an area north of a line from
Perryville Missouri, Marion Illinois, and Calhoun Kentucky, north
to Interstate 64 in southern Illinois and southwest Indiana.
* TIMING…of the strong westerly winds will bring them into
southwest Illinois and southeast Missouri around midnight
tonight, then spread east into southwest Indiana and northwest
Kentucky by 6 am Sunday. These winds will gradually subside from
west to east during the morning on Sunday.
* WINDS…will be sustained from the west between 15 and 25 mph
with gusts of 40 and 45 mph likely. Wind gusts close to 50 mph
are not out of the question.
* IMPACTS…These winds will be blowing from west to east and
could cause issues for drivers of high profile vehicles
traveling north or south through area covered by the wind
advisory. Given the extremely saturated soil, some trees may be
toppled and could fall on roadways, buildings, or power lines.
Any trees or branches that fall on power lines may cause power
outages. These winds will definitely toss around any loose or
unsecured objects left outdoors.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are expected to
reach 30 mph or greater for longer than one hour…or wind gusts
are expected to reach 40 mph for any duration.
