Whitfield Seeks “People’s Choice” Winner for 2016 Congressional Art Competition on Facebook

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) announced the start of his annual Facebook contest to determine the “People’s Choice” award for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.  A total of 39 entries were submitted to Congressman Whitfield’s office in Hopkinsville from across the district and photos of these pieces have been uploaded to his official Facebook page where they can be voted on through Friday afternoon (5/13).

Each entry is available to be viewed by “liking” Congressman Whitfield’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RepEdWhitfield.  After “liking” the page, visit the “2016 Congressional Art Competition” album, which will be pinned to the top of Whitfield’s Facebook timeline.  Participants are encouraged to get their friends and family members to “like” their art to show support for their entry as well.

This contest is being held in conjunction with the Congressional Art Competition, an annual, nationwide contest sponsored by Members of Congress and the Congressional Institute to showcase the talent of their creative high school constituents.  The “People’s Choice” winner will be determined by the artwork that garners the most number of “likes” and will be placed in Congressman Whitfield’s Washington, D.C. office.  An announcement of the winner for both the art competition and “The People’s Choice” award will be made next week.

“Every day as I pass these works of art, I continue to be impressed with our young people’s talent,” stated Whitfield.  “It is truly an honor for a student to have their work exhibited in Washington and I am pleased to have these fine entries on my official Facebook page.”
