WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01) is pleased to announce three separate grants from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program totaling over $360,000.

  • West Marshall Fire Department in Benton will receive a $37,143 Regional Request Grant.
  • Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department in Summer Shade will receive a $193,334 Vehicle Acquisition Grant.
  • Honey Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Hopkinsville will receive a $133,715 Operations and Safety Grant.

“I am pleased to see these area fire departments receive these important federal grants,” Whitfield said.  “These resources will enhance service during emergency conditions within these communities and assist the neighboring regions as well.”

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency administers these programs in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.  More information can be found on the web at: http://www.fema.gov/firegrants.
