‘Voice’ winner singing at Kentucky game this week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — The latest winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” Jordan Smith of Harlan, says he will sing the national anthem at the Kentucky men’s basketball game on Saturday.

Media report Smith posted the news on Facebook, adding that he is a longtime Kentucky fan.

Kentucky plays Mississippi at 7 p.m. in Rupp Arena.

Smith said he also will sing the national anthem on Friday at the NHL Winter Classic in Massachusetts.

Smith is a senior at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. After winning the television competition, he was given a parade in his hometown and a key to the city and named Harlan Countian of the Year, a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary Harlan County coal miner.

He received a recording contract with Republic Records with his win on “The Voice.”
