The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Pleasant Ridge Mobile Home Park on Gary Drive around 2:40a.m. Sunday in reference to a reported person with a gun.
Authorities say one of the victims explained to deputies that he had just dropped his girlfriend off at her home when a male suspect approached them, pointed a shotgun directly at them and asked, “Do you want to die tonight”. The suspect reportedly went on to claim that “ISIS” was attempting to break into his trailer.
Prior to sheriff’s deputies arriving in the area, they say the suspect reportedly left the scene. Arriving deputies located the suspect, 41 year old Nigel Tyrone Danirls of Evansville, IN, walking on Pleasant Ridge Drive and took him into custody.
Another victim, who lives on Chapel Court, also reported being threatened by Daniels, according to police. All three victims positively Daniels as the suspect.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for Daniels residence at 4909 Fawn Lake Drive and reportedly found and seized a variety of fully loaded rifles and a handgun. along with ammunition. Deputies indicate one of the firearms was reported stolen out of Henderson. Additional firearms (including a shotgun) were later recovered on Ashley Drive after a homeowner discovered them lying next to her trailer.
The sheriff’s office says Daniels has a prior 2006 conviction for felony Domestic Battery, which makes him ineligible to legally possess a firearm.
