Utica man charged with his 5th DUI and multiple offenses after fleeing from police

A 23 year old Daviess County man accused of drunk driving is facing multiple charges after he fled from police and avoided capture for over 3 hours Sunday morning.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy made a traffic stop on a suspected drunk driver in the McDonalds parking lot on KY 144 around 1:10 Sunday morning, but the driver immediately fled from the vehicle towards the Ohio River. During the next 3 hours and 20 minutes authorities say the suspect, later identified as Matthew Adams, was spotted several times, but was not captured due to tall fences, barbed wire and locked gates behind OMU, Barton Brands and Yager Material.

Law enforcement set up perimeters in the areas where Adams was last seen and was located by Owensboro Police hiding between two houses on Geary Avenue where he was taken into custody.

Adams was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center for multiple charges including his 5th DUI in 5 years, according to authorities.
