Strong winds from a storm that moved through the area around 1:00 this afternoon damaged buildings, downed trees and powerlines in several locations in Union County.
Emergency Management Director Vernon Martin tells WMSK News that 140 residential customers are without power due to downed power-lines in the Hitesville area near Waverly. He also indicates there were several power-lines down in the Uniontown area.
In addition, Martin says some grain bins at CGB in Uniontown were damaged, a shelter was flattened at Dunbar Park in Morganfield, a large tree was blown over on Sulfur Springs Road, as well as several other trees that were blown down on the west side of Morganfield.
At this time, Martin does not believe the damage was caused by a tornado, but just strong winds.
