Union County Sheriff’s Deputy James Waller reported that on May 19, 2017 at approximately 5:56PM, Union County Sheriff Deputies Steinhoff and Waller responded to a report of Assault that had taken place at Job Corp Training Center. Upon arrival deputies were met by center security officers that had already secured the suspect at their offices. Deputies were able to view security camera footage of the incident which clearly showed the suspect pulling a hammer from his book bag while walking behind the victim and striking the victim in the side of the head with the hammer twice, and knocking the victim to the ground where the suspect then continued to kick the victim. The suspect, a juvenile, was taken into custody and lodged in McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a court appearance. The Victim, Antonio Carr 20, of Atlanta GA., was taken by Job Corp personnel to Union County Hospital before deputies arrived, and later rushed to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, In with serious head injuries.
