The Union County Board of Education met for a brief tax hearing and special called meeting at the Central Office Wednesday afternoon.
During the tax hearing, Director of Finance Amy Morris presented board members the recommended 4% Tax Rate for the 2016-2017 school year. She informed board members that the General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2016 was 56.1 cents on real property and 56.1 cents on personal property which produced revenue of over 5.3-million dollars. Following the tax hearing the special meeting was called to order where board members unanimously approved the recommended 4% Tax Rate, which is 57.8 cents on real and personal property, as well as the proposed rate for motor vehicles of 55.7 cents, and the proposed utility rate of 3%.
Following the vote, the special meeting was adjourned.
