Traffic is expected to shift on U.S. 41 this weekend in Henderson County.
Lane closures are expected to be in place on Kentucky 351 near the U.S. 41 overpass by early Thursday. One lane will be closed in each direction under and near the overpass. The lane closures will be in place for the summer with all lanes expected to be open to traffic when school resumes in early August.
The closures are to accommodate demolition work and to begin building the overpass for the new U.S. 41 alignment.
U.S. 41 Traffic Shift
This weekend, traffic is expected to shift to the new crossovers on U.S. 41 between the Second Street/Kentucky 351 and U.S. 60 interchanges. Northbound traffic is shifting west to use the southbound roadbed. The shift is scheduled for early Saturday. Short-term rolling closures are expected early Saturday to finalize the traffic shift.
Two lanes will be open in each direction, but the lanes and shoulders will be narrower in the new configuration. This is a long-term traffic change to accommodate the construction of the future lanes of mainline I-69. It’s expected to be in place through late 2024.
Kentucky 425 Bridge Work
Crews are expected to begin work next week on rehabilitating the Kentucky 425 overpass bridge. To accommodate the work, the 12-foot travel lanes will be reduced to 10-foot lanes with no shoulders. No loads over 9-foot will be allowed on the bridge with signage posted.
The restrictions are expected to be in place beginning June 7 and continue through early August. The actual starting date of lane closures, the traffic shift and lane restrictions may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
