A Significant Amount of Methamphetamine was Seized
MORGANFIELD, Ky. (August 30, 2018)—Kentucky State Police troopers, Morganfield Police and Union County Sheriff deputies were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint at 1:45am on US 60 and KY 2091. While conducting the safety checkpoint, troopers made contact with Jay E. Howard, 30 of Morganfield. Authorities suspected Howard to be intoxicated and placed him under arrest. During the search, troopers located suspected Hydrocodone in his vehicle.
Howard was arrested and charged with:
1) Driving Under the Influence 3rd Offense
2) Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense
3) Prescription Not in Proper Container
Kenneth J. Manuel, 32 of Morganfield was a passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested after authorities located a large amount of suspected methamphetamine in a bag belonging to him.
Manuel was arrested and charged with:
1) Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense
2) Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense
Manuel and Howard were both transported to the Union County Detention Center in Morganfield.
