Two local juveniles charged with possessing drugs

Two local juveniles are facing several charges after police say they found drugs and a knife in the vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

Morganfield Police Officer Stefon Douglas reports the routine traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle that had only one headlight in the Walmart Parking lot around 10:45 Wednesday night. Upon contact with the vehicle, Officer Douglas states he smelled marijuana coming from the inside of the passenger compartment. After conducting a search of the vehicle, he says the two juveniles were found to be in possession of marijuana, Xanax along with Diazepam and other illegal drug paraphernalia along with a large fixed blade knife that was hidden in the seat where one of the juveniles was sitting.

According to the report, the juveniles were placed into custody and charged for Possession of Marijuana, Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Person Under 18 Tobacco/Alt Nic/Vapor Product.
Officer Douglas indicates the two juveniles were released back to their parents pursuant to a promise they would appear in court.

Morganfield Police were assisted by the Sturgis Police and Union County Sheriff’s Departments.
