Two Hopkins Co. Teenagers Flown to Hospital After 3-Vehicle Wreck in Muhlenberg Co.

Two Hopkins County teenagers were airlifted to an Evansville hospital after a three vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon in Muhlenberg County.

Kentucky State Police responded to the scene of the wreck near the intersection of KY 181 and KY 81 in Bremen around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed 16 year old Donna Larkin, of Madisonville, was driving a vehicle northbound on KY 181 and police say she failed to stop at the stop sign and the vehicle was hit by a log truck traveling southbound on KY 81 driven by 53 year old Robbie Shanks, of Bremen. Larkins vehicle exited the roadway, while police say Shanks’ log truck overturned onto its passenger side over the side of the roadway. Authorities indicate a third vehicle, driven by 26 year old Adriana Staples, of Madisonville, hit the logs that had fallen off the truck.

Larkin and one of her passengers, 15 year old Elizabeth Johnson of Madisonville, were flown from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Another passenger in Larkin’s vehicle, 16 year old Destiny Moore of Madisonville, was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health in Madisonville where police say she was treated and released. Staples was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg County Hospital for treatment. Police indicate Shanks was uninjured in the accident.
