Two Car Crash on the Audubon Parkway in Henderson County Leaves Two People Dead and Two More Injured, One Critically

HENDERSON, Ky. (June 4, 2021) Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call around 4 pm of a multiple vehicle fatal collision on the Audubon Parkway at the three mile-marker.

Preliminary investigation reveals 24-year-old Braelen R. Hicks-Schaefer of Spottsville, KY was traveling eastbound on the Audubon Parkway in a 2006 Toyota Scion. For an unknown reason, Hicks-Schaefer crossed the median, striking a westbound 2011 Toyota Corolla head-on driven by Tony L. Reutter, 62 of Henderson. Reutter’s passenger, 62-year-old Vickie L. Reutter of Henderson died on-scene. Tony Reutter was transported by ambulance to Saint Vincent Hospital in Evansville for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Hicks-Schaefer was extricated from her vehicle and airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where she later died. An infant in Hick-Schaefer’s vehicle was also transported to Deaconess Hospital. The baby’s condition is unknown but believed to be life threatening.

The westbound lanes of the Audubon Parkway remained closed to traffic for several hours as KSP reconstructed the collision. The roadway was expected to reopen at around 11 pm CDT.

Henderson County Fire Department, Zion, Hebardsville, Baskett and EMS, AMR Ambulance, AMR AirEVAC, Henderson County Coroner’s Office, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies assisted troopers at the scene.

The investigation continues.
