Troopers Investigating Fatal Wreck in Henderson County

HENDERSON, Ky. (July 8, 2020) Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call regarding a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 around 2:50 PM. Collision Reconstructionist Trooper Josh Turner responded to the scene, which was located in the 11000 block on US 41-Alternate, south of Henderson.

Preliminary investigation reveals 60-year-old David B. Edwards of Clay was operating a 2010 Ford Escape northbound on US 41-A. William A. Ratley, 19 of Morganfield was traveling south on US 41-A in a 2006 Kenworth dump truck. For unknown reasons, Edwards travelled out of his lane and into the path of Ratley, resulting in a head-on collision.

Mr. Edwards was pronounced deceased at the scene by Henderson County Coroner Bruce Farmer. Mr. Ratley was not injured in the collision. US 41-A was closed for over three hours as KSP reconstructed the collision.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies assisted troopers at the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
