Traffic Stop in Henderson Leads to Foot Pursuit

HENDERSON, Ky. (March 28, 2019)—A Kentucky State Police trooper patrolling Henderson observed a 2001 GMC Sonoma traveling on Washington Street about 11:30am. The trooper conducted a traffic stop due to the driver not utilizing his seatbelt. According to Public Information Officer Trooper Cory King the trooper identified the driver as 33-year old Jeffery Brown, address unknown. While conducting field sobriety tests, King says the trooper located suspected methamphetamine and marijuana on Brown. Brown then ran on foot from the traffic stop. The trooper gave chase and caught the suspect while he was attempting to jump over a metal fence. Brown refused to cooperate with the troopers commands and resisted arrest. The trooper was able to get Brown to comply after he was tasered.

Brown has been charged with the following offenses:
1) Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine)
2) Possession of Marijuana
3) No Insurance
4) Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License
5) Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st
6) Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Foot)
7) Failure to Surrender Revoked/Suspended License
8) Failure to Wear Seatbelts
9) Resisting Arrest
Brown is lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center in Henderson while the investigation continues.
